Synopsis

Ki-woo Kim (Choi Woo-Shik) is actually a young man living in poverty from the slums of a nameless Southern Korean city with his family members – father Ki-taek Kim (Song Kang-ho), mother Chung-sook Kim (Jang Hye-jin), and sister Ki-jung (Park So-dam). The family lives in a garden unit where they battle finding a Wi-Fi signal to be able to sneak into in order to get access to the Internet to watch TV, get fumigated on, and have to watch men urinating in the alley exterior their home. Ki-woo wakes up in the hospital, where he had been in a coma for months. He finds out that Ki-jung has died, and he and also Mrs. Kim are sentenced to probation.
